Depot level maintenance supports both the
combat forces and the Army supply system.
(1)
Depot
level
maintenance
provides
technical support and back-up to direct support and
general support units. A joint decision is required
between the Theater Army (TA) Commander and
Commander AMC to determine the relationship of AMC
supply and maintenance activities with the Theater
Commander in peacetime.
(2)
In
wartime
the
Theater
Commander
assumes control of depot level maintenance operations
in the Theater of operations.
(3)
Depot level maintenance provides combat
ready material to the Army supply system.
c.
Depot level maintenance is performed by TDA
industrial type activities operated by the Army. Depot
level maintenance may also be performed by contract,
ISA, and interdepartmental or interagency agreement or
lower levels of maintenance when authorized.
