TM 5-3895-374-10ItemProcedure19Open the valves for the hot oil to circulate. OPEN ONLY IF DRUMMELTER IS TO BE USED.10.Feed Conveyor Set Up Procedures(See Figures 2-1, 2-22 and 2-23)The Feed Conveyor is positioned at a right angle to the Drum mixer. The critical point is the discharge hood to theDrum Mixer aggregate feed chute.ItemProcedure1Position the feed conveyor according to the site layout.2With the feed conveyor still attached to the transport unit connect the hydraulic power pack tothe valve bank on the rear of the trailer. Remove the two pins located in the square telescoping tubes supporting theconveyor. Extend the hydraulic cylinder to the end of its stroke using the hydraulic valve bank. Re-install the pins toprevent the cylinder from retracting.3Disconnect the hydraulic power pack.4Back the feed conveyor into position 60 inches from the chassis of the drum mixer, lining up the discharge box with the drum feed chute. At this distance the discharge chute may not appear to be directly overthe feed box. This will happen when the chassis is in the operating position.5Extend the landing jacks and disconnect the feed conveyor from the transport unit.6Connect the hydraulic power pack to the feed conveyor. Lower the hydraulic jacks at the frontof the trailer.7Remove all the bolts holding the landing jacks in position. The landing jacks are left in positionand are free to slide up into the chassis as the front of the trailer is lowered.8Lower the four screw jacks into the operating position.9Remove the king-pin adapter box if it has been used to transport the unit (an alternative is to dig a hole under the front of the trailer with a loader and leave the adapter box attached to the trailer during mixing).page 2 - 37
